Helen Gillet in concert
Ticketed event
link coming soon for $25 ticket
Helen Gillet is a singer-songwriter and surrealist-archeologist exploring synthesized sounds, texture, and rhythm using an acoustic cello.
Gillet is the recipient of the Doris Duke Performance Award, New Orleans Best Contemporary Jazz and best Female Performer from Gambit Best of The Beat awards and Offbeat Magazine's Best "Other Instrumentalist" and "Mixed Bag" music and twice for Rising Star in Downbeat Magazine’s Critic Poll.
Gillet was born in Belgium, raised in Singapore for 9 years as a child. Over the past 23 years, living in New Orleans she has played with musicians of all stripes, from avant-garde jazz and classical to pop and funk — Gillet has developed a singular polyglot style.
The core of her work is solo performance with live looping, layering cello parts and vocal lines. Rhythmic figures emerge with bowed or plucked ostinatos or a variety of rubbing and slapping on the body of the cello, then enhanced with melodies played or sung in her haunting alto.
Gillet’s solo performance is known for its enigmatic quality as she fabricates each song with innovative use of the cello and true mastery of live looping technology. She has performing in festivals across Europe, Australia, and The United States as a solo musician, collaborator and educator.
Gillet has recorded for countless musicians throughout her career and has self published 14 albums of her own original music ranging from progressive jazz, electro folk rock and punk bands and solo singer-songwriting albums. Her latest album is called "ReBelle" a Tribute to Belgian folk singer Julos Beaucarne and features a quintet of New Orleans musicians.
You can find her online at helengillet.com or on bandcamp at helengillet.bandcamp.com and on Youtube and Instagram at Helen Gillet.

This exhibition spotlights cARTie student-artist Siena. On July 16th, Siena and cARTie's Co-Founder, Clare Murray, will bring you along for a playful exhibition walk-through, fireside art chat, and spirited art-making (with some of Siena's favorite snacks as creative fuel).
This is an exhibition opening and artist talk meant for families with young children, educators interested in learning more about what moves youth these days, artists willing to reconnect with their inner child artist, and folks who care deeply about art and museum education.
This special event breaks down barriers to the art world and puts the spotlight on student-artistry. For two hours, you will have a chance to get to know Siena, one of cARTie's featured student-artists, experience her art, and try out making art inspired by her work.

ArtWalk- Friday Night Fashion Show
The Westville ArtWalk Fashion Show returns in 2026 as a highly curated outdoor runway experience, transforming the street into a living gallery of wearable art. Building on its growing legacy, this year’s presentation introduces an elevated artistic framework centered on costume art, immersive storytelling, and sculptural design.
At the heart of the show is the concept “Costume Art: The Street as Gallery.” The runway will function as an exhibition corridor where garments are presented as sculptural works in motion. Integrated artwork and environmental design elements will blur the line between fashion show and public art installation, inviting audiences to experience the street as a dynamic, immersive gallery.
The show will feature five carefully curated wearable artists, each specializing in original cut-and-sew garment creation. Designers will present between 8–12 looks each, resulting in a collection of approximately 40–60 original works. Confirmed designers include Tea Montgomery and Donald Carter, with Dead By 5AM, Two Faced Design, and Pillow & Co.
The evening will be hosted by Frank E. Brady, guiding audiences through a presentation that merges fashion, performance, and public art into one cohesive and unforgettable experience.
RESERVE A SEAT for a $5 fee or join us for standing room free of charge.
